Pinpoint Test B : P182B, P182C, P182D
- B1 RETRIEVE AND RECORD ALL DTCS
- Using the diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTCs.
Is DTC P182B, P182C and/or P182D present?
Yes GO to B2. No REFER to Transfer Case - Power Transfer Unit (PTU) . - B2 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PTU Vehicle Harness C1831A .
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1831A-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 4.1 volts?
Yes GO to B3. No For 3.5L GTDI, GO to B4. For 3.5L Ti-VCT, GO to B5. - B3 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Is the voltage greater than 4.1 volts?
Yes GO to B6. No REPAIR the circuit. - B4 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C1551B (3.5L GTDI).
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B6. No REPAIR the circuit. - B5 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175E (3.5L Ti-VCT).
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B6. No REPAIR the circuit. - B6 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: PCM C1551B (3.5L GTDI).
- Disconnect: PCM C175E (3.5L Ti-VCT).
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1831A-1 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to B7. No REPAIR the circuit. - B7 CHECK THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE

Does the temperature to resistance specifications match?
Yes INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls - 3.5L Ti-VCT. PROGRAM the PCM with the latest calibration. PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Data Download procedure and PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Drive Cycle, REFER to Automatic Transmission - 6F50/6F55 . PROGRAM the PCM with the ATC solenoid bar code information, REFER to Automatic Torque Coupling (ATC) Configuration . PERFORM the AWD Drive Cycle. No INSTALL a new transfer case fluid temperature sensor. - Measure component side
