Pinpoint Test E : P188C, P188D
- E1 CHECK FOR AWD RELAY VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: AWD Relay C4379 .
- Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Ignition ON.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes GO to E4. No GO to E2. - E2 CHECK FUSE 70 (15A)
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove fuse 70 (15A).
- Check fuse 70 (15A).
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to E3. No REPAIR the circuit. - E3 CHECK THE AWD RELAY POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4379-1 Fuse 70 Refer to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION for schematic and connector information.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to E4. No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- E4 CHECK THE AWD RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Install fuse 70 (15A)
- Ignition ON.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes For 3.5L Ti-VCT GO to E5. For 3.5L GTDI GO to E6. No REPAIR the circuit. - E5 CHECK THE AWD RELAY COMMAND AND FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L Ti-VCT).
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to E7. No REPAIR the circuit. - E6 CHECK THE AWD RELAY COMMAND AND FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C1381B (3.5L GTDI).
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Measure the resistance
between.
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4379-3 C1551B-60 C4379-6 C1551B-46
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to E7. No REPAIR the circuit. - E7 CHECK THE AWD RELAY COMMAND AND FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to E8. No REPAIR the circuit. - E8 CHECK THE AWD RELAY COMMAND AND FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to E9. No REPAIR the circuit. - E9 CHECK THE AWD RELAY COMMAND AND FEEDBACK CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No INSTALL a new AWD relay module. REFER to All Wheel Drive (AWD) Relay Module . PERFORM the self-test. If DTC P188C and/or P188D return, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls . PROGRAM the PCM with the latest calibration. PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Data Download procedure and PERFORM the Solenoid Body Strategy Drive Cycle, REFER to Automatic Transmission - 6F50/6F55 . PROGRAM the PCM with the ATC solenoid bar code information, REFER to Automatic Torque Coupling (ATC) Configuration . PERFORM the AWD Drive Cycle.
