Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 3.5L Ti-VCT: Installation

  1. 1.

    NOTE: The service A/C compressor for this vehicle is shipped from the factory with Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil installed. The refrigerant oil adding procedure specified for this vehicle must be followed to avoid installing excessive Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil in the refrigerant system.

    Add the correct amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Oil Adding .

  1. 2.

    Install the compressor and A/C compressor stud.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  1. 3.

    Install the A/C compressor upper bolt, but do not tighten.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  1. 4.

    Install the A/C compressor nut, but do not tighten.

  1. 5.

    Connect the A/C compressor discharge fitting and install the A/C compressor discharge fitting nut.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
    • Install a new O-ring seal lubricated in clean Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil.

  1. 6.

    Connect the A/C compressor suction fitting and install the A/C compressor suction fitting nut.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
    • Install a new O-ring seal lubricated in clean Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil.

  1. 7.

    Tighten the A/C compressor bolt and nut.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  1. 8.

    Install the rear A/C compressor bolt.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  1. 9.

    Position back and attach wiring harness to the A/C compressor and connect the field coil connector.

  1. 10.

    Install the underbody air duct and the 3 twist lock retainers.

  1. 11.

    Install the drive belt.

  1. 12.

    Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
