PINPOINT TEST J : The Roof Opening Panel is Noisy During Operation - Sliding Glass Panel

  1. J1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL FOR OBSTRUCTIONS OR DAMAGE

    • Check the roof opening panel for any obstructions and damage.

    Are there any obstructions and/or damage? 

    Yes  REMOVE all obstructions. REPAIR any damage. If the damage cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new roof opening panel frame. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Frame .
    No  GO to  J2.
  2. J2 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL OPERATION

    • Check the roof opening panel during operation.

    Is the front sliding glass panel loose or incorrectly aligned? 

    Yes  ALIGN the front sliding glass panel. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Front .
    No  GO to  J3.
  3. J3 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL TRACKS AND MECHANISMS

    • Open the roof.
    • Check the roof opening panel tracks and mechanisms for obstructions and damage.

    Are the roof opening panel tracks and mechanisms OK? 

    Yes  GO to  J4.
    No  REMOVE all obstructions and REPAIR any damage. If the roof opening panel tracks and/or mechanisms cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new roof opening panel frame. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Frame .
  4. J4 CHECK THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL MOTOR

    • Remove the front sliding glass panel motor and leave the electrical connector connected.
    • Operate the front sliding glass panel roof opening panel to the full OPEN and CLOSED position using the slide control switch.

    Does the front sliding glass panel motor make excessive noise? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new front sliding glass panel motor. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor - Sliding Front Panel .
    No  REINSTALL the front sliding glass panel motor. REINITIALIZE the front sliding glass panel motor. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization - Sliding Glass Panel . If the front sliding glass panel is still noisy, INSTALL a new roof opening panel frame. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Frame . If the front sliding glass panel is no longer noisy, the system is operating correctly. The concern may have been caused by an incorrectly installed front sliding glass panel motor.
