Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
2. Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
4. Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
5. With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  
  NOTE:
  If other TCM DTCs are also set, diagnose those before continuing with this procedure.
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
CHECK FOR PROPERLY OPERATING COMPONENTS
1. Verify proper fluid level. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER, STANDARD PROCEDURE . Check for leaks and repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
2. Verify proper operation of the input and output speed sensors with an oscilloscope. Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
3. Using the clutch application chart, inspect the clutches, valve body solenoids, and valves associated with this gear ratio error. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING . Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
  Were any problems found and repaired?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
