Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
NOTE:If other TCM DTCs are also set, diagnose those before continuing with this procedure.
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR PROPERLY OPERATING COMPONENTS
- Verify proper fluid level. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER, STANDARD PROCEDURE . Check for leaks and repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
- Verify proper operation of the input and output speed sensors with an oscilloscope. Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
- Using the clutch application chart, inspect the clutches, valve body solenoids, and valves associated with this gear ratio error. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
. Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
Were any problems found and repaired?
Yes
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Transmission. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
